I gathered you here today so we could come to a decision as to what we ought to do.
You must have heard them already, but
we have received ill tidings from Cornwall.
Sir Tristan of Lyonesse, as well as Queen Iseult
have died, at King Mark’s own hand.
With that said…
…Tristan had turned his back to the Round Table.
He’d accepted Mark’s terms, and so we were in the process of negotiating his return…
…but nothing was made official. And so,
I cannot request for his body to be laid to rest in Camelot.
As for Mark, he is under house arrest by his own guard in Tintagel.

Tristan left the Round Table, and even though there were plans for him to return,
he did not make it back to Camelot to renew his vows.
Officially, he’s no longer part of the Round Table.

Mark will likely be put under someone else’s guardianship,
and there will be talks to figure out Cornwall’s line of succession.

Following this audience, I received an ultimatum. The Germanic wish for a seat at the Round Table, with the prospect of an alliance.
If we refuse, they’ll go and seek one elsewhere.
I intend to refuse their offer.
They don’t have as much power as they believe they do.
They’re vulnerable, and are mostly counting on reinforcements from the continent.
To make the balance shift, a fair share of Britain would have to side with them,
and so far, the response I got from other kingdoms was not⎯
MORDRED :

ARTHUR :

The Germanic have been here for years and years, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere,
even if we push them back as far as we can.
Their home is not the land they come from, it's the land they live on now.
I think it’d be interesting for us to consider that alliance.
