ISEULT :
Tristan!
TRISTAN :
Iseult!
GUINEVERE :
Lancelot!
You found them!
Wherever could they have go⎯!
BEDIVERE :
Hello, Guinevere.
You look well.
LANCELOT :
I invited them to stay for a few days…
…and we’ll discuss politics soon.
ISEULT :
You’re impossible.
Leaving without a word, just to go and hit each other with swords…
If it were only up to me, I’d forbid duels altogether.
On top of all this, they very much go against our customs.
DINADAN :
Oh, but how would your knights show off otherwise, your Highness?
ISEULT :
Have they no other uses?
DINADAN :
I’m afraid that’s too much to ask.
ISEULT :
How about asking them not to put themselves in situations where duels are their only option?
DINADAN :
Ah, Iseult, you wound me…
ISEULT :
Not as wounded as your brother was, at any rate.
BRUNOR :
Hey, I gave as good as I got⎯
ISEULT, DINADAN :
Wow. Congratulations. What a guy.
BRUNOR :
Enough…
BEDIVERE :
Heh.
BORS :
Bedivere…
I do wonder, what brings you here?
Does Arthur wish to negotiate?
BEDIVERE :
I have nothing to say to you, Bors.
You’re going to follow your cousin blindly no matter what.
BORS :
You’re still mad at me for pointing my sword at you, aren’t you?
BEDIVERE :
Of course not.
You’re not worth getting mad at.
But I have no interest in talking to Round Table deserters.
DINADAN :
That’s bullshit, of course he’s still mad.
( When you've squired for someone as long as I have, you know how it goes. )
BEDIVERE :
How about you tell us what you were doing in Benwick?
DINADAN :
It’s a long story…
I was researching the Grail.
Now that we’re talking about it, though…
…something comes to mind.
On the way here, I passed through Vannes, before this whole business.
They’ve got a huge library, full of the kingdom’s archives.
Getting in the door wasn’t easy, but I found family trees for the noble families of Benwick…
…and Gaunes as well.
There’s just this one thing that bothers me about it all.
PALAMEDES :
What do you mean?
DINADAN :
All of the family trees start at the same date.
I’m not sure what to make of it, but it stood out to me.
I’ll ask Galahad if she noticed something like that in Corbenic.
BORS :
Galahad? How come?
DINADAN :
Oh, I ran into her on the road to Scotland. She told me she was going to investigate the Grail in Corbenic.
I mean to send her a letter to set up a meeting on the way to Camelot.
We can discuss our findings then.
[ meanwhile mordred hits the bricks </3 ]
MORDRED :
…Ugh…
[ cut to guin on her own ]
LANCELOT :
The queen of all Britain, sulking on her own?
Under my own roof?
GUINEVERE :
The queen of all Britain didn’t expect to have to patch up knights’ shirts
while the queen of Cornwall patches up their bodies.
LANCELOT :
Are you really surprised?
GUINEVERE :
After thirty years at the Round Table, I’ve seen worse.
It isn’t often I find myself patching up your shirts, though.
LANCELOT :
…
GUINEVERE :
…What troubles you?
There’s a furrow in your brow. Moreso than usual, that is.
LANCELOT :
…I don’t know why I acted the way I did during the duel.
If Dinadan hadn’t stopped me…
GUINEVERE :
You knights do tend to get carried away during a fight.
LANCELOT :
This was different. It was as though I was possessed…
…or so I believe, at least.
[ someone knocks. ]
Who’s there?
BEDIVERE :
It’s Bedivere.
Can we talk? It won’t be long.
GUINEVERE :
…
The Germanic want to make an alliance with the Round Table?
BEDIVERE :
Exactly.
If we don’t agree, they’ll go and seek another.
With you, for instance, Lancelot.
LANCELOT :
Why bother telling me, then?
Are you not afraid I’ll take advantage of it?
BEDIVERE :
We’ve known each other a long damn time, Lancelot.
You’re much too attached to Arthur to lower yourself to this.
LANCELOT :
…
BEDIVERE :
But all of those who once opposed the Round Table are growing bolder and bolder.
It’s about time we found a solution.
I’m talking to you most of all, Guinevere,
as queen of Britain.
GUINEVERE :
…
LANCELOT :
…
BEDIVERE :
[ sighs ]
My patience’s starting to run out, dealing with everyone’s moods.
You all act like children, as though you didn’t have important duties to fulfill.
If you won’t act like it, you might as well step away.
GUINEVERE :
…
I’ve only been gone a few months.
And I’m surprised to hear such words
from someone I had to tend for over a year when he lost his hand
and found himself unable to fulfill his duties.
You sang a different tune back then.
BEDIVERE :
…
You⎯
DINADAN :
Hey, Lance!
The village next door’s having a festival over the next few days.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we all went?
LANCELOT :
…
You’re right, Dinadan.
We should all go to the festival.
DINADAN :
Great!
BEDIVERE :
…Just think about it.
I’d like to stop playing diplomat between all you highborns…
…like Mark of Cornwall, that arse.
[ speak of the devil! ]
MARK :
…Camelot, at last.
The view clearly wasn’t worth the journey.
ROUND TABLE TRIVIA
Audiences with the king, part two.
There are three types of audiences : public audiences, private audiences and secret audiences.
Public audiences :
Several times a week, subjects wait for their turn outside the great hall where audiences are held, already filled with courtiers and onlookers.
NPC :
My lord, we’ve had enough.
ARTHUR :
Wow, that’s a new one, LMAO ROFL etc.
A representative is usually selected to present the king with their comments and grievances, especially when it comes to commoners.
Private audiences :
An official audience granted by the monarch to their courtiers or entourage ; usually short conversations happening in an official setting (desk, study, etc.)
ARTHUR :
No, Kay, I’m not going to put an “idiot tax” into place.
The audience may not be open to the public, its contents aren’t secret.
Secret audiences :
They are not open to the public, but everyone knows they’re happening.
MARK :
If everyone knows they’re happening, it’s confidential, not secret.
ARTHUR :
Silence, nerd.
They mainly exist for diplomatic purposes, and are rarely granted outside of powerful vassals or ambassadors.
