QUEEN OF SORESTAN :
I’ve heard many a rumor about the war these past few weeks, your Majesty.
That is the reason for your visit, isn’t it?
You wish to bring Sorestan to your cause as you did Gore. Am I wrong?
GUINEVERE :
You see right through me, your Majesty.
Times are hard, and Mordred’s army is not to be taken lightly.
Having rallied part of Scotland and the Germanic colonies to his cause,
he now seeks Gaheviez’s support.
QUEEN OF SORESTAN :
Good for him.
GUINEVERE :
…
QUEEN OF SORESTAN :
Do not get me wrong, my queen.
But we are not in the same position as Gore.
Sorestan has always been an ally to the Round Table,
but this has not stopped Germanic colonies from spreading across our land…
…while Arthur has done nothing since our last clash.
What do I have to gain by supporting him?
GUINEVERE :
Do you believe that Mordred will give you your lands back if he wins,
rather than granting them to his Germanic allies?
QUEEN OF SORESTAN :
I do not believe Sir Mordred has any notion on what it means to rule.
The moment he takes the throne,
someone else will be there to seize the long sought-after lands of Logres.
GUINEVERE :
The moment he’s defeated is the moment we will push back the settlers, your Majesty.
QUEEN OF SORESTAN :
…Interesting.
What does Arthur mean to do now?
GUINEVERE :
He has gone to Gaheviez to try and negotiate for himself.
QUEEN OF SORESTAN :
So he’s left Camelot unprotected?
GUINEVERE :
Come now…
Do not underestimate Camelot’s defenses. I organized them myself.
[ mordred what da hell is going on. anyway someone knocks. ]
MORDRED :
Come in.
GALAHAD :
Mordred? Are you alright?
Should I adjourn the council?
MORDRED :
…No.
I just need a moment.
[ sighs. ]
Thank you for your support.
Let’s go.
URIENS :
I say we’d better get Nohaut on side, rather than Gaheviez.
GERMANIC COUNSELLOR :
We’ve already got Nohaut stuck in a vise, it’s enough⎯
URIENS :
Oh, is it now?
And once the war is won, you’ll return those lands to the crown, of course?
GERMANIC COUNSELLOR :
We will help you take back the Orkney islands, as agreed. That would be compensation enough.
MORGAN :
Enough.
Nohaut or Gaheviez, it matters little.
We ought to reach out to the Irish, who have their eye on Cornwall. They alone have significant enough troops.
With Sir Lancelot on our side,
any negotiation becomes much simpler.
URIENS :
It’s the least she can do.
If you don’t have an army, you could at least bring a bit of good cheer.
LANCELOT :
I am not as patient as others believe, Uriens.
Please, do keep on provoking me.
MORGAN :
None of you are thinking straight. Arthur has far more support than you think.
Without military might of our own, this is a recipe for disaster⎯
MORDRED :
Don’t listen to my mother’s counsel.
Many did, to their sorrow.
[ cut again! ]
KAY :
Don’t forget anything, we’re leaving tomorrow morning!
MERLIN :
It has been a while
since we last had a war council.
ARTHUR :
…So now you’ve come to offer your help?
I’ve been trying to reach you for weeks, in vain.
MERLIN :
Yes, I was busy.
ARTHUR :
Busy doing what, exactly?
MERLIN :
…Come on, don’t be such a grump.
I’ve simply come to spend some time with you.
ARTHUR :
For goodness’ sake, what are you on about?
…We are at war.
I don’t have time to waste on your whims.
What’s going on now? Are you bored?
MERLIN :
…Well, damn…
For you to react like this⎯I’ve really let our relationship go to waste, haven’t I?
ARTHUR :
…
MERLIN :
…
I’m sorry.
I came to tell you…
…that I am leaving Britain forevermore.
ARTHUR :
…Excuse me?
