✞John F. Disinger Ph.D., age 74, of Columbus died Saturday, March 26, 2005 at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. Retired Professor from The Ohio State University. Earned a B.S. in General Education from SUNY- Brockport in 1952, an Ed.M in Secondary Education from the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY in 1960 and a Ph.D in Science Education from The Ohio State University in 1971. Taught in the West Irondequoit, NY, Central School District 1956 through 1970, before coming to OSU where he taught in the School of Natural Resources until retirement in 1995. Member and past president of the North American Association for Environmental Education, member of Ohio Academy of Science, Ohio Alliance for the Environment, and many other conservation and environmental education-related organizations and professional societies. Elder at Indianola Presbyterian Church in Columbus; former elder at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Rochester, NY. Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Survived by wife, Norma; sons, David C. (Lisa) of Columbus and Douglas A. (Melissa) of Herndon, VA; grandchildren, Lisa, Jessa, Daniel, Haley and Matthew; sister, Nancy (Thomas) Grasmehr of Thousand Oaks, CA; brother in law, Donald (Chris) Vescovi of LeRoy, NY; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of I 270), Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial service Tuesday 11 a.m. at the Indianola Presbyterian Church, 1970 Waldeck Ave. Rev. Skip Jackson and Rev. ✞Norma (Vescovi) Disinger died Thursday, November 8, 2018. Born August 9, 1930 in Batavia, New York to John and Edith (Clark) Vescovi. Graduated from LeRoy, N.Y. High School in 1947. Earned a BS and MS in Music Education from Crane School of Music, SUNY at Potsdam, N.Y. Taught many years in several New York School Systems where she met her husband John, who died in 2005. Provided private music lessons to many students of the Northland area after arriving in Columbus in 1971. Member and past president of Clintonville Woman's Club, and Women-in-Music Columbus. Member and past treasurer of Ohio Federation of Music Clubs. Member of OSU Women's Club, National Federation of Music Clubs, and Delta Omicron (National Music Fraternity). Former member of AAUW and Indianola Presbyterian Church Choir. Current, long time member of Indianola Presbyterian Church.
Survived by sons, David (Lisa) of Columbus, and Douglas (Melissa) of Herndon, Virginia. Grandchildren Lisa, Jessa, Daniel, Haley and Matthew. Brother, Donald Vescovi (Chris) of LeRoy, New York. Sister-in law, Nancy Disinger Grasmehr (Tom) of Thousand Oaks, California. Several nieces and nephews. Long time, good friend, Ginger Haack. Visitation at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High St. on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 11-1followed by a short memorial service. Norma will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
