3D Design and Animation Students will study methods and techniques involved with 3D design and animation as well as concept design. Topics covered include 3D modeling techniques, lighting, rendering, animation, the 3D printing process, and other industry skills. Techniques and applications taught are used in numerous professional careers including; all fields of engineering, the medical industry, forensics, graphic design & advertising, scientific research, military simulations, game design, and film production. This course is ideal for artists, and students pursuing careers in architecture, engineering, industrial design, game design, and entertainment industries. LAB FEE: $20 is required for design supplies and materials. *Meets MYP Design requirements

Cell Phone Use Policy
No playing games, YouTube, Instagram or other sources of entertainment in the classroom during or before class.
No using the phone while a student or teacher is presenting.
You can listen to music while working as long as you do not disturb other students and remove earbuds while a student or teacher is presenting.
If there is an emergency and you need to answer the phone or make a call, ask me to go to the front room.
Student Assessment: Students are assessed based on three main areas: foundation skills, developing ideas, and independent project & skills development. This holistic approach is student-centered and promotes a growth mindset. Grading is competency-based, ranging from 6-10, with 12 representing above mastery. This method allows students to practice and master competencies and skills without the penalty of receiving a poor grade, creating opportunities for them to learn from their mistakes and grow.
Foundation Skills: Building foundational skills that are specific to the software and hardware used in each course strand. Students will apply these skills to mini projects, documenting their solutions. These skills can be demonstrated through teacher-guided assignments or independent student projects. Evaluate the student's basic skills and understanding of design principles, looking for accuracy, attention to detail, and application of foundational knowledge
Independent Project & Skill Development: Assesses the student's ability to independently learn new technical skills and manage an independent project. The goal is to foster an environment that promotes intrinsic skill and project exploration, ultimately giving students the opportunity, tools, and environment to explore their passions and/or future careers. Evaluate the student's ability to work independently on projects, demonstrating growth in skills and competencies. Look for self-direction, initiative, and the ability to learn from mistakes.
