Goals of Experiment:
Accelerating (UAM) or Constant Velocity (CVM), how can you determine from your data?
When is a measurement 'good enough'?
Basic Graphing Skills
Finding averages (=average(A2:D2))
Creating Scatter plots of multiple series
Obtain two tubes with a BBs of different diameters..
Qualitative Description:
Support the tubes at a small angle so that the BBs roll to the bottom of each tube.
Observe the motion of the BBs.
Outline the differences in the motion of the BB's.
Quantitative Description:
Design a way to quantitatively compare the motion of the BB's.
Be sure to collect multiple trials to ensure consistency.
Create a graph to illustrate your data (Google Sheets).
Compare and contrast their motion.
What quantities can you measure or calculate for the motion of the BB's?
How would you go about determining the maximum speed of the BB's?
Describe the BB's speed during the entire length of the tube, is it the same or does it change as the BBs travels down the tube? How could you figure this out?
How can you determine if the BBs are traveling at a constant rate (terminal velocity) or accelerating?
Using data from other teams, rank the final speeds of all the BBs?
Justify your ranking?
To Create a SCATTER PLOT with two series with different x-values, a common work around is shown to the left.
Select all of the data (all three columns) and create your graph/chart.
