Shoot the Monkey

Where should the hunter aim? Above, below or at the target in the tree? 

While tracking the source of a viral outbreak, a virologist spotted a monkey suspected of being a vector for the virus in a tree. The monkey was 4.8 meters off the ground when the virologist took her shot with the fast acting tranquilizer.  The monkey immediately (no time delay) fell from the tree, thinking it would save him from the shot.
