CUNY has several opportunity programs that respond directly to the needs of their diverse population of students. Please view the programs you may be eligible for!
Accelerated Study in Associates Program (ASAP) is a fast track program where eligible students (in a participating college) take 15 credits per semester, and earn their degree in 2 years
ASAP features include individualized course schedules, required full-time study, and comprehensive and personalized academic and career advisement. Financial incentives include tuition and fee gap scholarships for financial aid-eligible students who have a gap between their financial aid award and tuition, assistance to reduce (or eliminate) the cost of textbooks, and unlimited MetroCards for all ASAP students
There is also a program called Accelerate, Complete and Engage (ACE) that acts and has all of the same eligibility requirements as the ASAP program but supports Bachelor degree-seeking students in senior (4-year) colleges
Math Start increases students' understanding of math and prepares them for college-level coursework. If you have math remedial needs, then Math Start might be of interest to you. You can enroll in a semester long or an intensive summer program at a participating CUNY college. Shorter cycles cost $35 while the semester-long programs cost $75. This program provides a next-step pathway to CUNY ASAP/ACE
To know if you are eligible for CUNY Math Start, please go to CUNYFirst and search for Milestones to know whether or not you are math proficient
CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP) helps students who need to improve their academic English skills before taking college courses. CLIP students pause their CUNY acceptance until they finish this program, and once they finish it, they are prepared to resume their college courses.
Courses are offered in-person, online, or hybrid. There are different options you can choose from: 6, 12, or 16 weeks. It is a commitment of 25 hours/week.
College Discovery (CD) offers need-based financial aid, tutoring services, skill building and career development workshops, and academic counseling. This program helps support eligible students who otherwise might not be able to attend college due to educational and financial circumstances.
The Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) program is similar to the College Discovery program and offers similar benefits to students in participating CUNY colleges. As a requirement of admittance, first-year SEEK students must attend and successfully complete a mandatory non-residential summer program. SEEK-eligible students also have access to free group and individual tutoring services.
Students are given ONE year to pass the Reading/Writing Skills tests and TWO years to pass the math skills test. Students who do not pass the test within the year(s) specified will be dismissed from the college.
