Completed verification with your college (if you were selected for verification)
I sent out an email to students who were selected for verification at a CUNY campus. You can verify that you were or were not selected by logging into CUNYFirst and checking your “Tasks and Holds”
Review your university system's future student enrollment guides
9. Retrieved your school email
10. Verified that you qualify or do not qualify for a special opportunity program
11. Declared/changed your major (if you know what to major in as of now)
12. Registered for your classes or checked in with an advisor to make sure that you would be registered for them
Please also stay in contact with your advisor and cross-check that the classes you are registered for are requirements and/or electives that will count towards your degree
13. Confirmed that any AP or college credits transferred over to your college (either as electives or courses)
14. Obtained your campus ID card
Some schools require that you are first registered for classes before you make an appointment to get your ID. Without the ID, you will not be able to enter your school's campus
15. Familiarized yourself with any syllabi that your professors may have posted or emailed to you so that you are prepared and/or aware how and when your classes will be administered
It is best to arrive to your first day of each class 10-15 minutes early to know where your room is located and avoid confusion!
3. Submitted your FAFSA and TAP/Dream Act, and ensured they were successfully processed
4. Verified that your FAFSA and TAP/Dream Act were updated with the correct college name and college code
5. Reviewed and accepted the financial aid in your college portal (if any was applied) and paid your tuition (optional)
6. Submitted your transcripts and SAT scores (if applicable) from the high school and/or the college you are transferring from to the college you plan to enroll
Doing this will allow you to also transfer the credits you need applied to your degree
7. Submitted your immunization records
Some colleges require that you file a specific form and email it to their wellness center and/or their admissions center. You can verify how to submit your immunization records by searching it on your college’s website
8. Attended your New Student orientation, or completed any New Student tasks from your school's log in portal
If you completed all of these tasks, then you are ready for your first day at your college campus!
