If you are a previously-attending college student (i.e. a college graduate and/or transfer student) then you are able to transfer most of the classes you have taken over to your new college. Some classes you have taken previously will either transfer as electives or credits that satisfy the major or program you are enrolling into
To ensure that these hard-earned credits transfer correctly, please visit your school portal. For CUNY students, you can use CUNYFirst and view your Transfer Credit Report to the college(s) you applied to. You either receive this via email or by visiting your student portal website to see how each class taken transfers over to the college you will be attending!
Speaking to an advisor is also an important step you can take to ensure that your credits taken satisfy a specific course requirement, equivalent to a course at the college you are enrolling into. This helps you minimize the cost of attendance and overall tuition when enrolling into classes at your new college
If you took an AP exam in high school and performed well, you can report these scores from the College Board website to your college or university system to get credit for the class(es) you no longer have to take as a result of passing the rigorous exam
