All college undergraduates must declare a major at some point during their enrollment–even if you are accepted as a "liberal arts" or "undecided" major.
To earn a Baccalaureate or Associate's degree, you need to pursue and complete an approved major as part of the requirements for the degree, and at least one-half of your major credits must be completed in residence at the college.
Some colleges, especially CUNY senior colleges, require that all matriculated students declare a major before completing 60 credits. Transfer students entering with 60 credits or more must declare their major by the "census date" in their first semester. More information can be found in your school's academic calendar!
Your school's office of the registrar might require that you complete a major, minor, certificate declaration form and email or physically submit it to their Office of the Registrar. This form might also be completed through your college's portal (that is, they might have a specific link for you to upload the form and have it approved).
Please keep in mind that this process may require approval from the academic department, so it is highly recommended that you submit this form as early as possible prior to the Major/Minor Declaration deadline, or "census date" as indicated on your school's academic calendar.
