Students who successfully or unsuccessfully defer their admission into a college for the semester they applied for must reactivate their application to a single school and attend at a later semester.
Certain colleges have deadlines when it comes to reactivating their application. Please check your school's academic calendar, or school's website to learn more about their reactivation process and important deadlines.
Students who were accepted into the semester they applied for and never contacted someone to defer their admission into a later semester must contact the campus to reactivate the same application they used to apply.
Doing this is important and it must be done in a timely manner! Otherwise, your application may become invalid and the student will need to reapply or restart an entirely new application.
If you did defer your admission successfully, you will be contacted by the campus about reactivating your application. This will be done either by email or phone call (or sometimes both), so please check your email to see if you have received a notification or link to reactivate your application.
If you have not heard back from anyone by December, please contact the college's admissions office yourself with proof of your deferment (if any) in order to move further in the process.
Students who are planning to reactivate their application might have to pay a non-refundable $75 application fee.
Some college may also require that you file a readmit reactivation form to be reconsidered for the following semester.
Please click the buttons below for examples of reactivation forms and how certain CUNY campuses hold the reactivation process.
The reactivation process for SUNY/Private students may vary depending on the college given that each college has their unique way of carrying out the reactivation process.
Below is an example of a colleges with a unique reactivation process. Please note that some colleges might require that you first email an office or fill out a specific form before continuing with other steps.
