In order to check how much you are being charged per semester, you must visit your school's university portal
If you are a CUNY student, you can check this by logging into CUNYFirst > Student Center > Financial Account. Here you can see how much you owe, which is categorized by separate terms
To see how much you are being charged, and when it is due, you can go to the "Make a Payment" section on the left-hand side, and it will take you to a separate page where you can see how much is due, when it is due, and pay your tuition accordingly
Please keep in mind that if you having financial aid pending, it will be applied at a later date if it's not already covering what you do owe as of now (read below for more details)
It is important that if you have applied for financial aid (whether it is in the form of a scholarship, loan, or grant), and you have been notified that you are eligible, or received the funds towards your educational expenses, you must accept this award once it is applied to your student account
Please keep in mind that your financial aid will not apply on its own. That is, you must accept or decline the awards. You can check whether or not your financial aid is being applied by visiting your university system's portal and viewing your tuition balance
For CUNY students, you must go to CUNYFirst > Student Center > Financial Aid > Awards > Accept/Decline
There are numerous ways you can pay your tuition once it is posted and you are registered for all of your classes. Please keep in mind that if you have pending financial aid and you choose to pay your entire tuition (without financial aid applied), you will be refunded (or "disbursed") of the amount of your financial aid
That is, if your tuition is $3,690.10, and the pending financial aid covers $3,465, you will pay $3,690.10, and be refunded $3,465 at a later date during the semester. So, whatever you do choose to pay before financial aid is applied will be refunded to you either as a check by mail, or through Direct Deposit if you have this option applied and/or correctly set up
You might also have to pay a service fee (CUNY students pay a 2.65% service fee) of the FULL payment you make (if the transaction takes place online and you use a credit/debit card payment), which is non-refundable. That is, the higher your tuition charge, the higher the service fee will be, in addition to your tuition
So, if you do choose to pay your accounts before aid is applied, please keep in mind that it will be a little bit more than your actual tuition charge. Regardless, you will have the receipt of the payment, and it will be broken down into several charges
If you are not given financial aid, or you want to pay your tuition before the designated deadline as provided by your school, you have several options to do so. As a student you have the option of:
Paying online (e-check or credit/debit card)
In-person payment (personal check or money order)
Tuition payment plan
All three options are explained with as much detail as possible, for all types of students (CUNY, SUNY, and/or Private School students) below
To make a one-time payment online, please log into your school or university system’s portal (CUNYFirst for CUNY students). When you do, make sure to go to your financial account, and pay the tuition charges on it which include class registration charges, books, and more
For CUNY students, you can go to Student Center > Financial Account > Make a Payment to pay your accounts at the school you are currently attending
If you are paying in-person or by mail, please make the check or money order payable to your school, or university systems Bursar’s Office
For CUNY students, you can make this check payable to the CUNY School of Professional Studies’ Bursar’s Office. Here is the address you should use if doing this option:
CUNY School of Professional Studies
119 West 31st Street, Suite 123
New York, NY 10001
Attn: Bursar Office
Please be sure to include your full name and EMPLID ID (CUNYFirst ID) on your payment. They do not accept cash or credit cards in person, and cannot process payments over the phone
Students can sign up for a payment plan, with several options of paying tuition and fees over a period of up to six months for the fall and spring semesters. The amount of payment is dependent on the date a student enrolls in a payment plan.
The benefits of a payment plan enables students to reduce the burden of paying all of their fees at once by the tuition deadline. The payment plan is an interest-free benefit to students
Students must log in through their school or university system's portal to access a payment plan method. CUNY students can go to CUNYFirst > Student Center > Financial Account > Payment Plan to enroll
