My name is Elise and I am a junior this year. I am from Hudsonville, MI which is really close to GVSU. I am majoring in studio arts and hope to have an emphasis of graphic design. A few of my hobbies include watching movies and tv shows, sewing, video games, and anything with animals.

Yoko Ono's Wish Tree

Yoko Ono has numerous titles including a musician, artist, and a peace activist. She started to create wish trees in 1996. Viewers are invited to write down a wish and attach it to the tree. At the end of every show the wishes are taken off of the tree and buried.

hi elise! i really like how your images all follow a black and white theme. out of the three i like the "unknown" one the most because i think the word placement is very fitting. the shot looming into the forest really gives an eerie vibe and makes me question whats deeper into the forest. great job!! :) - sophia c.

Everything is Alive

I was first brought to my owner as a birthday present. I was unwrapped to find a child full of excitement. The first few times she attempted to ride me we would fall over but over time she started to get the hang of it and we stopped falling. She loved me and I loved her. My wheels bringing her in circles around the driveway. We did everything together. Later in life she began to grow. As she got bigger she stopped bringing me out as much. I spent more and more days in the garage until one day she moved out. Just like that my owner was gone and I was brought to a thrift store to hopefully find my next owner.

Anna and the Willow

Anna and the Willow also known as Anna Cross is an artist who works with English willow to make sculptures. She lives in North Yorkshire England and is inspired by the wildlife and countryside around her to create her sculptures. In order to use the willow she soaks it in water for a few days to make it pliable. She then uses a frame that Adam Crane, the local blacksmith, creates for her to wrap her willow around. She has worked with willow for 11 years now and currently still works with it to this day.

Yayoi Kusama

Yayoi is an artist who mostly works with installations and sculptures. She lives in Japan and is inspired by American Abstract impressionism to create her artwork. One of her largest installations is called "Infinity Mirror Rooms." Yayoi uses art as therapy for her mental health and still creates art today.

Tracey Emin is a British contemporary artist. She portrays emotions through her artwork and uses her life events as inspiration. She is an artist who works with multiple different types of mediums.

Mike Nelson

Mike Nelson is a British contemporary artist. He works with large scale sculpture installation to tell a story to the viewer. He commonly references failed political movements and literature in his works.

Cathy Wilkes

Cathy Wilkes is a Northern Irish contemporary artist. She went to the Glasgow School of Art. Cathy Wilkes is known for her large scale installations. She usually portrays scenes with a distressed look.

Rachel Whiteread

Rachel Whiteread is an English Contemporary artist. She mostly works with sculptures. Her artwork portrays the traces of humanity to the pieces create.

Garry Hume

Garry Hume is an English Contemporary artist. He primarily works with figurative and abstract paintings. He creates his pieces based on his personal memories and images that he finds.

Life Support Installation

This installation was created from pop tubes connected onto the wall and ceiling. My group used tape to connect them to the walls and twisted them around to give them an interesting look. The meaning behind it is to show that everyone has something they are connected to that gets them through the day whether it is bad or good. For example, some people might eat a lot of food to help them get through their day. This lets the viewer decide for themselves what they are connected to. Overall I am happy with how it turned out.
