My name is Abryannah Chanthana. I am a freshman at GVSU and I am majoring in marketing. I enjoy baking and art as a hobby. I like to spend my time with family and friends and especially my dog Maggie. She's a cavopoo full of energy, loves belly rubs, and treats.
I am a reusable water bottle, my temperature ranges from hot to cold. My placement throughout the day ranges from the kitchen, to the desk, to the backpack. I am currently seated at the kitchen table surrounded by pringle chips, leftover boba drinks, and a bag of bread. As i look down, the distance seems far compared to the distance from the sink. I get nice warm bubble baths everyday along with an air drying rack. My life may seem boring but atleast i am reusuable.
Nahoko Kojima is a professional contemporary Japanese paper cut artist. She was born on October 2, 1981 in Hyogo, Japan. Known for sculpting nature such as flowers and animals from paper. She uses precise cutting and hanging techniques to make three dimensional renderings from single sheets of Japanese Washi paper. Her most famous/popular piece is called Shiro (2018). It is a life size blue whale that is over twenty three meters in length and her largest piece to date. It was cut by hand from two sheets of custom made Japanese Washi paper. She was inspired by a whale she saw in Hawaii and from there she began to draw and research into the animal. She usually alters the designs as she cuts them, making it impossible to recreate similar works by digitizing and mechanizing drawings along.
Ai Weiwei- Made zodiac animal heads which is n New York. He makes sure that there is learning involved within art and that they are not just tasks. He works with a lot of people and even those who are not related to art like housewives and volunteers. He gets a lot proposal’s in helping him.Putting his quotes around because he isn’t there to speak out. He picked up art from his father, he says he calls himself an artist even though he doesn’t have many works. He infuses his art with political conviction. I think his way of making art is meaningful in terms of addressing and including politics. I like the marble surveillance camera and the way he correlates it to the modern day.
For my project I will recreate the dictator duck. I’m thinking of making all of the objects the same color except for the duck or the floss. So the wooden clips, cotton pads, q-tips, and floss/duck would be all red. I think I’ll rearrange them differently from what I did the first time but keep the same concept. Actually i dont know how its going to be but i'm just going with the flow.

Tranquil
Our installation piece, Tranquil, is installed in the window area of Calder Art Center. Our installed object that we chose were orbeez because they were a big part of our childhood. We also chose orbeez because they symbolize how we grow, mature, and get older. We get to a point in our lives where we are fully grown and when we are at peace and tranquil.
