My name is Paige Rabideaux. I am technically a GVSU Junior, but I switched my major to Engineering, so I have another four years ahead of me. I am also minoring in Studio Art, which is what brings me to this class. Outside of school I enjoy off roading, going to the beach, hiking, shopping, and crafting!
i really like the picture of the beach with the word wavy. I like how the font is transparent so you can still see the image yet the text is big so you are clearly able to see which word you choose. I also like how for each image you choose a different font that complements the picture, it adds dimension to your work. Did youtake this picture or was it found online?

I am a yeti cup... sometimes I am full, sometimes I am half empty, sometimes I am hot, sometimes I am cold. While I am often held, sometimes I am left in a car alone for hours. However, I can always count on one thing... at the end of the day I am given a nice bath and set to rest with my yeti friends.
5 WORD STORY - Tired, Act, Aquatic, Straight, Chubby
There once was a dolphin named Finn. Finn loved sweets, especially marshmallows. The problem was that the marshmallows made Finn chubby, which means he could not navigate the ocean as quick and efficiently as his friends. When Finn went out with his friends to explore coves, he kept up with them, and acted like he was having as much fun as them. Truth is Finn was exhausted and had to go straight to bed after each trip. Finn started eating a healthy amount of marshmallows and now has fun with his friends.
Hammerly Ceramics
· Curt Hammerly
· Started in ceramic after an accident causing him to break his neck
· Used ceramics as therapy
· Creates mugs, pots, useful objects
· Uses the method of slip casting
· Mixes glazes to create very unique finishes
· Prices tend to be upward of $80
· I like Hammerly Ceramics because I think slip casting is a good efficient way to produce ceramic art, and most of all I love the glaze combinations
· On the downside I think Hammerly Ceramics is definitely over priced and is targeted at the higher class… Another artist I am interested in created mugs by hand with scraffito and charges less than half the price… which takes WAY longer and slip casting “waters down” clay so you can technically make more product for cheaper using that method.
Ai Wei Wei Art 21
What I found most interesting about Ai Wei Wei is that he was still creating art when incarcerated. On top of that no one seemed to care that he is incarcerated, they just love his art. Ai Wei Wei sculptures are appealing to me because of their large size, and they are "clean". In my opinion many artists make messy things that do not make sense, but Ai Wei Wei's have some order to them. I also took liking to Ai Wei Wei's pottery, as that is my favorite art medium to work with.
For my bricolage project I am using a paint roller and corn cob. My thought process behind this was to use objects that are completely unrelated to each other. Not only that, but that they no longer serve their original purpose. However, that being said they still look like once cohesive piece. The deeper meaning to this art piece is hard work. Corn comes from farming, a very demanding job that can only be accomplished with one's hands. Painting also requires using one's bare hands to reach a goal. In sum, together these pieces represent the hard work one must put in to get what they want. Nothing is just given to you.
