project write up
Being a woman in the 20th century is very complicated. There are still hints of the past leaking though into the present and that's alarming. I want to create an activist piece that shows the words thrown at women. I am choosing to use a singular woman's heel and pinning derogatory terms on the bottom of the shoe. I want to place the shoe upright on a pane of glass or plexiglass and have the shoe be displayed from the bottom. This is so the viewer can feel as if they are a word being stepped on. It shows that the wearer of the shoe is dominant in comparison to the words that are thrown at them.
For this instillation, we decided to use red yarn and an empty hallway. It seems so simple, which it is, but very appealing to the eye. We connected a 7.5 foot piece of yarn across the hallway 27 times. We alternated the sides in which the string started at the top, creating a point of origin that matches when viewed in a certain area.
This instillation looks sharp due to how each piece of yarn is pulled so tightly. Within discovery, the piece of is made of soft yarn. The way the yarn crosses creates this organized chaos. To be able to move your perspective and viewpoint, you can witness the whole instillation change.
I am a freshman this year and I have no idea what my major is. I am leaning towards international relations, but I am not 100% sure. As far as outside of school, I love to travel. As I have not gone outside of the country yet, I would enjoy visiting European cities such as France, Italy, and Switzerland. I have a strong passion for photography as seen in the photo I uploaded. I took that picture when I was walking down the streets on New York City on my most recent trip there. One may see chaos, but I see functionality. Something about the business of the street sooths my mind as I realize how small I am in comparison to the world. The chaos distracts my mind from all anxiousness, allowing me to breathe.
INANIMATE EMBODYMENT-
Embodiment of a mirror-
I never see myself for who I am, I only seeing those who use me. I reflect those who stand in my way, shattering under immense pressure. Once I'm broken, my remains turn dangerous. I can never be put back together. My past pain shows, wounds will never heal. We're all just mirrors of our own existence, never the same.

Initially, I was welcomed by a pure woman. Her soft words just made me feel warm. The video panned to a sculpture of two hands touching. I felt an attraction to this piece as it reminds me of Creazione di Adamo by Michaelangelo. Something about hands seem so intimate. I like how she takes a chance to place and share her delicate art in a place where it could be subject to damage. It shows the beauty in risk. Her pure intentions with the idea of the beauty and delicacy of hands is something worth my attention. I am inspired by her view on life and how she interprets meaning.

When I think of art, I don't tend to correlate science with it. I feel those two fields are separate. I really appreciated how artist Sigurður Guðjónsson mixed the idea of art and science. Sigurður perfectly displayed a scientific phenomenon in ways that shows its true beauty. Science is something that is so beautiful, so for it to be captured in such an artistic viewpoint makes me as a consumer happy. I hope to see more of this futuristic feel in the future.
