Dalmatian lightens the overall pelt of the algolope, adding spotting either a few shades darker than the base pelt, or black. This marking can express itself in a multitude of ways, from just a few spots, to large blotches or holes.
(nDal/DalDal) Single Allele and Double Allele
There is no different between single or double allele carriers of Dalmatian.
Dalmatian does not have any range and instead lightens out the coat to various degrees. Regardless of coat color, the lightened coat can show spots or blotches of black or a dark base color.
(nDal/DalDal) White Out
If the Algolope is completely whited out, the spots can present as “holes” in the white, showing select markings though them. These markings are the following:
Point
Roan
Fade
Capped
Mealy
Bib
Soot
Hood (under regardless of allele)
Mask
Pangare
Mudmark
Brindle
Lynx
Otter
Iridescent
Everything else in the phenotype is considered carried and cannot show through holes.
Interactions:
(nTi) Ticked
Ticked can be passed via breeding a Dalmatian with Irish Ticked, if Irish does not pass, ticked can attach to the Dalmatian Allele instead, allowing tick marks to show on White Out Coats.
If Dalmatian does not show as Whited Out, Ticked will instead be carried in the pheno.
(nPb) Piebald vs (nDal) Dalmatian
Only one of these genes can show in a design, the phenotype will be adjusted to show 'Carries' for the marking not show.
Edge:
Edges of Dalmatian can be Hard, Soft, Blended, or a mix of 2, and can have fur texture. Spots and Holes may have Mapping.
Variation:
Dalmatian’s coat lightening can vary in intensity throughout the coat, from 15% to 50% opacity.
Dalmatian spots on non-white out coats, sit above all marks but underneath other white marks.
Dalmatian spots can be darker than base color or black.
Dalmatian can have hard or soft edges, or a mix of both spotting in the coat with possible mapping around the spots.
If the Dalmatian is completely whited out, it can have hard or soft edges, or a mix of both holes in the whiteout with possible mapping around the hole areas.
Spots or holes can be oval or rounded in shape and can be touching or clustering , with maximum 1 large cluster area no larger than the head. Spots elsewhere can cluster in smaller sparse groupings.
If whited out only the markings listed under 'White Out' can show through the holes.
If showing Piebald, Dalmatian is hidden and vice versa.
Dalmatian can optionally cover horns, fur, skin (including tongue), scale, feathers and stinger with spots.
