Farming is an activity that uses purchased or found seeds to grow your own crops. Crops have a variety of uses, such as basic healing when eaten, crafting, or even potion brewing. Excess crops can be sold for some gold as well!
Farming is open to Tamed and Wilds. Each member has 1 field, with plots dependent on farming level! Only Expert Ranked algolopes can plant and harvest fields!
Each member starts with a Level 1 field, with 4 plots once at least 1 of their Algolope reaches Expert Rank. Start your field [HERE].
Seeds can be purchased from the [General Store], earned via the [Trading Post], or found in [Scavenging].
To plant seeds, complete at least 4 RP worth of art or writing of one of your Expert-rank algolope planting the seeds or preparing a field. In your submission description add the following form:
Field Level:
Field Link: Link to your field spreadsheet
Seeds Planted:
ex:
x1 Strawberry Seed - Spring
x1 Watermelon Seed - Spring, Summer
You can plant as many seeds as you have in your inventory at one time, up to your max number of plots.
Seeds have seasons they can be planted in, and you can simply post to the [Harvest] Thread once the season changes over. All crops take 1 full season to grow, and seeds cannot be planted outside of their listed planting seasons.
Growth and Harvests:
If you forget or wait for a season to harvest your crops you will get seeds back, maybe even more than what you planted! (Even if you forget for a whole real year)
Trees take 2 seasons (6 months) to grow and can be harvested in one specific season for their crop, such as nuts or fruits. Trees remain all year and you can use a Steel Shovel to remove grown trees or any other type of shovel to remove an immature tree. Immature trees or Tree Starts (1 season growth time out of needed 2) can be sold to the General Store or other members to plant. To harvest an immature tree, simply comment on the Harvest thread with the appropriate item and which tree to dig up. Trees must be planted for at least 1 months to get a start or sapling. Trees younger than that will be destroyed.
Bushes (blackberries, blueberries, raspberries) take 1 season (1-3 months) to grow and produce for 1 season (Summer), they can be dug up and sold just like trees, but with an iron shovel. Bushes dug up after 1 month but under 1 season of growth time produce 'Starts' which can be sold or traded to others.
Seedlings and Cuttings - Such as Dragonfruit and Figs, can be acquired by using a Hand Trowel on the plot at least 1 month after planting, but before harvest time.
Dragonfruit produce after 2 seasons, and Fig after 2 seasons.
Herbs - Can only be planted in an additional 'herb only' field, unlocked with a plot ticket. Herbs can be planted by using up any herb garden as the seed. Herbs take 1 month to grow and can be harvested monthly except for winter, for a small yield of herbs items.
