Part I
The Standard Galarian Weezing or Gweezing for short is one of the clear early meta samples from the March meta. Gweezing has 3 amazing abilities to choose from, however Levitate is the common ability due to its threat of being blasted by 2 common grounds in the meta, Swampert and Flygon.Having Levitate cancels out the need for boots as it prevents it from being hindered by sticky webs and spikes, while also cancels it’s major ground weakness. It’s typing of Poison Fairy allows it to check threats such as Ribombee or support mons such as Wigglytuff and Alolan Persian. It offers a lot of utility with Will-o-Wisp, Clear Smog, Destiny Bond, Toxic Spikes, and Defog. It is one of the premier defoggers in the meta.Gweezing players are at risk to many of the meta’s unpredictable moves such as Iron tail Flygon or trapping sets that could force Gweezing into an awful spot. Its most common set currently is Strange Stream, Will-o-Wisp, Defog, and Pain Split. With moves such as clear smog and toxic switching in and out for the others. Its item usually is black sludge, however it could be used as a rocky helmet mon or a janky AV set. Gweezing is a meta staple and could ruin many teams if left unchecked.
Part II
Gweezing has many janky sets available to it, with one option being toxic, infestation, stockpile and pain split. This set is able to trap the annoying ribombee and fellow Gweezings while preventing ditto players from switching in. Gweezing’s other 2 abilities Neutralizing Gas and Misty Surge have niche usages. Misty surge could make the normally support mon Grafaiai into a interesting offensive threat with its unburden ability and also dampers Flygon and Tatsugiri’s dragon moves. Neutralizing Gas is option as it allows the rare Gallade players to miss the KO on Gweezing and get crippled with a burn in return. It also could ruin Belly Drum Greedent players by preventing Cheek Pouch from activating. Galvantula users will also hate this variant of Gweezing as losing Compound Eyes will be annoying for the popular thunder sets, as going back to 70% accuracy will sting.
