Introduction

Pidgeot is a very strong wall breaker with a stab combo only resisted by one mon in the entire meta. It is able to 2hko Galarian Weezing with stealth rocks meaning that most teams will not have a switch in and allows it to claim a ko whenever it hits the field. Flying stab is incredibly dangerous into the metagame and Pidgeot uses this to full effect.

 Part 1

When you see a Pidgeot it is pretty easy to guess the set. Choice band makes pidgeots base 80 attack a lot more threatening when combined with base 120 attacks brave bird and double-edge. When you pair it with mons that can pivot, Pidgeot is consistently able to hit the field and provide value with its nuclear brave birds. Pidgeot also benefits from U-turn because of the switches it forces, as well as priority in quick attack. Allowing yourself an out in case a weakened Ninjask is sweeping your team is very valuable, and choice band allows Pidgeot to deal respectable damage with all of its attacks.

Part 2:

Pidgeot would normally be able to take a neutral hit from any mon because it has respectable bulk. However, it will normally run recoil moves as its main source of damage, which makes it highly vulnerable. It is also unable to break through Palosand and physically defensive Rotom(provided it is locked into brave bird). It is also scared of a ditto potentially coming in and throwing off brave birds into your own team.

Part 3:

Pidgeots main set is choice band but there are a lot of different moves that it can run. Brave Bird, Double-edge, U-turn, quick attack, and pursuit are all viable on Choice band sets. When using a choice band set, you want to get Pidgeot in on offensive mons that Pidgeot can outspeed. Luckily, Pidgeot has base 101 speed which outruns a large portion of the metagame. Also, mons like Swampert and Galvantula are able to easily fit on teams and they have the switch moves to get Pidgeot in safely. Depending on your targets, Pidgeot can be adamant or jolly. For example, jolly Pidgeot is capable of outspeeding jolly Flygon, while adamant is unable. Some important targets for Pidgeot include CM Mespirit, Defensive Politoed, and Tatsugiri before a rapid spin. Offensive checks to Pidgeot include Ninjask, Rotom-Fan, and Dugtrio-A While defensively Rotom-Fan, and Pallosand can safely switch in. Pidgeot also has a somewhat large defensive movepool with moves like Defog, sand attack, roost, toxic, and whirlwind. As stated earlier, Pidgeots bulk is not awful and it could be able to use its supportive movepool to good effect. Although Pidgeot has very rarely run sets using these moves, it is somewhat likely these moves could be put to use.
