Analysis

The severe lack of Normal resists is very good for everyone’s favorite RBY threat. With a very good base 110 speed stat, decent bulk for an offensive Pokemon and respectable 100 attack, as well as the amazing combination of Sheer Force and Life Orb, Tauros gets a huge power boost to a lot of its attacks. Rock Climb gets boosted to an astronomical 120 Base Power, 2HKOing even the mighty Regigigas. Body Slam, while a little weaker, is a perfectly accurate move which can be considered. Tauros is also gifted with amazing coverage moves. Close Combat can hit defensive Bewear (for 30) while also being very hard to switch into thanks to the lack of Ghost types this meta. Earthquake is a good move to hit Togedamaru, and it doesn’t inflict Iron Barbs which is a plus. Throat Chop, while not necessary because there are no Ghost types, it is nice to use because it hits Uxie super-effectively. The other option is Zen Headbutt, which hits Levitate Weezing, a Pokémon Tauros can otherwise struggle a bit with. Tauros can even drop Life Orb for a Choice Band, taking advantage of the lack of Normal resists with Double-Edge, which becomes extremely hard to switch into. But like with every Pokémon, Tauros has some flaws. Tauros can struggle with the aforementioned Weezing, as well as Rocky Helmet Bewear, despite having Close Combat. In fact, clicking Close Combat doesn’t usually KO it, and it causes Tauros to lose one fourth of its health in recoil. Additionally, it’s Normal typing leaves it prone to Mach Punch from Breloom and Hitmonchan, as well as being revenged by Choice Scarf Pangoro. Tauros is also prone to chip damage and hazards, so something like defensive Sigiliyph with Defog can remedy this problem. These flaws are small in the grand scheme of things though, as the upsides to incorporating Tauros is huge, and is a threat that demands respect from players.
