Analysis
Scovillain functions as a potent Sun Chlorophyll sweeper in the December 2024 metagame, utilising its Grass/Fire typing offensively to threaten some of the format's most common Pokémon such as Milotic, Jolteon, Roserade, and Tinted Lens Yanmega. Solar Beam is Scovillain's strongest Grass STAB move, which allows it to dispatch opposing Water-types like Milotic and Primarina. Giga Drain is ran alongside Solar Beam to have a spammable Grass-type attack outside of sun, and it is still useful to hit Pokémon like Pupitar and Alolan Golem. Giga Drain also improves Scovillain's longevity and offsets Life Orb's recoil. Fire Blast is boosted in sun and is able to easily OHKO most offensive Pokémon in the tier such as Zoroark, Cetitan, and Jolteon. Flamethrower is an alternative that has no accuracy issues and is also able to OHKO the aforementioned Pokémon under sun. Scovillain's final move is Stomping Tantrum, which allows Scovillain to target the Fire-types that resist its STAB options like Magmortar and Chandelure, while still being able to hit Guzzlord neutrally for a bit of damage. Growth can also be slotted into Scovillain's movepool but its bulk hinders much setup opportunity and Scovillain is not in particular need of the extra firepower while sun is active. While Scovillain is a strong offensive threat, it is very reliant on sun in order to be this effective sweeper. Scovillain has to rely on a teammate to set the weather manually, and the weather can also be changed easily by Aurorus' Snow Warning, though Aurorus is not a Pokémon that is able to switch into Scovillain. Scovillain is also Stealth Rock weak and the recoil from Life Orb leaves it easily revenge killed by priority like Zoroark's Sucker Punch and Lokix's First Impression.
