Unique lighting

Artist Statement

For this image we had the task of taking a photo that had unique lighting. I chose to capture an image of a bridge around dusk, and edit it so it seemed mysterious and dark, and nothing you would see naturally. My subject for the image is this bridge that is located in deering oaks park. How I created this image was with my phone to take the picture and when I got back home I put this photo into lightroom and edited a bunch of settings in lightroom. The specific things I did to it included tuning the brightness, exposure, shadows, vibrance, black point, etc.. I chose to create this specific image because of the lines in it. It has a significant amount of lines and textures to give the image definition. I also like the colors I included in it, even though most of my image is dark I really like the contrast I included with the lights and the background.

For the compositional techniques, I used Leading lines as well as low key lighting, and high horizon. For the leading lines you can see the obvious tell of where the bridge is going, to the distance. The low key lighting is around the entire image. Lastly the high horizon is the tree line above the image creating the high horizon. So my project evolved from me wanting to take photos of my dog in a dark room, but those came out blurry and would've been impossible to edit, so I took a photo I captured a couple weeks ago and edited and used that. I think that this photo represented the assignment more than what I was thinking and a more structured image for how much it is compositional involved.

For the story of this image, I was driving around deering oaks park when I saw this bridge and I thought it would be such a cool photo and I knew it would come out good edited so I took some photos and this is my edited version. This relates to my life because these are the type of photo I create when I go out on my adventures and find random cool things and take photos of it. I really love the way thi image came out and would not change anything about this image.
