Mental health challenges such as stress and anxiety among the youths in Singapore has became increasingly common throughout the years. However, many individuals still hesitate to seek help to to stigma, lack of awareness and the limited access to support services provided to them. As a result such emotional struggles are often unresolved. To address this issue, our group, MindGuards, has created developed an app: MindEase, to provide accessible and reliable self-care tools for teens. MindEase includes an AI-powered mood journal where users can reflect on their day and received emotional feedback catered to their current mood. When the user enters a journal entry, the app analyses the tone of the text using an AI model which replies with a response that guides the user through their feelings.
The app also provides wellbeing resources, which include crisis helplines and coping strategies such as personalised breathing exercises. This ensures users have access to credible and practical guidance and help. These features address the need for convenient and reliable daily mental health support. The app if built using Streamlit and an AI language model for text analysis. The interface is designed to have simple navigation, clear instructions, making it accessible for anyone to use. In order to ensure reliability, the app provides carefully selected research-based content and generates consistent feedback to users. To protect privacy, users can choose to remain anonymous and journal entries can be chosen to not be stored, ensuring confidentiality of personal information.
Overall, MindEase offers a practical and user-friendly solution that promotes emotional awareness to teens, helping them manage their mental wellbeing is a supportive environment.
