Dementia Friends

What is it?

Singapore is ageing at a breakneck pace. Singapore citizens aged 65 and older grew from 9.4% in 2007 to 14.4% in 2018. Since dementia affects people over 65, and the likelihood of developing dementia increases significantly with age, there will be more dementia patients as Singapore’s ageing population rises. As such, carers will need to care for more elderly, resulting in tremendous stress on their shoulders. It can be overwhelming and affect not only those who have it but also carers, families and societies physically, psychologically and economically. Unfortunately, there is no solution for dementia, making dementia a dire issue. However, what we can do is improve everyone’s living condition.

With all that being said, we have decided to make a program called “Dementia Friends” to lighten the load of these carers. Unlike other apps, which only gives information about dementia and allows you to report a lost elderly, our app has many other functions like games, news, reminders, music therapy, calls and more. We also have a wide range of functions coming soon. Thanks to this app, carers will be able to take a step back and have a lighter load on their shoulders.
