Every once in a while, your TV will receive software updates, so it can add new features or fix bugs. No matter what TV you have, keeping your software up to date is very important. You can update your TV's software over the internet or using a USB flash drive.
- Video and audio settings may be reset to their default settings after a software update.
Update Automatically: If the TV is connected to the internet, you can have the software update itself automatically while you're watching TV. Once the update is completed, it will be applied the next time the TV is turned on. When you agree to Smart Hub Terms and Conditions in initial setup, Auto Update is set to On automatically. You can use the Select button to turn it off.
Update Over the Internet: To get the most out of your TV, you should download software updates as soon as they become available. Here's how to do it over the internet:
- Using your TV's remote, navigate to Settings, and then touch Support. Touch Software Update, and then select Update Now.
- New updates will be downloaded and installed on your TV. Updates usually take a few minutes; please do not turn off the TV until the update is complete. When the update is finished, the TV will restart automatically (If there aren't any new updates, select OK to exit.)
Update Using USB: To update the TV, the customer will need to visit the Samsung Download Center (https://www.samsung.com/us/support/downloads/)
- The customer will need to select their Product type and then search for their TV, or select ENTER MODEL NUMBER to access the support page for their specific TV model. On the Support page, locate the firmware file for their TV under DOWNLOADS. If you find multiple firmware versions, install the newest version. Select DOWNLOAD next to the firmware version to download the compressed file.
- When the file has finished downloading, locate it and then unzip the file. Navigate through the folders until they access the files required for the update. Copy or move the firmware’s files to the root directory of their USB flash drive (make sure the storage capacity is large enough for the files). When they copy or move the files to their USB flash drive, do not place them in a folder. If they are in a folder, the TV will not be able to find the firmware.
- Next, connect a USB thumb drive containing the software upgrade into a USB port on their TV. Using the TV's remote, navigate to Settings. Select Support, and then select Software Update. Select Update Now, and then select Yes.
- The TV will search the USB thumb drive for update files. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the updated software. Updates usually take a few minutes; please do not turn off the TV until the update is complete. When the update is finished, the TV will restart automatically.
Check for new software on Samsung.com.
Sometimes, new software versions will be available on samsung.com first, or for a short period of time. The latest software version can be downloaded from the Download Center.
- Select your TV's type and model.
- Make sure that the version on the website is a later version than the one displaying on your TV, and then download the software.
