~ Rainbows to Dreams ~
Phase II Waltz (learning exercise)
This choreography is rarely performed.
The commonly encountered version (entitled Rainbow Connection) is more complicated.
All cues in Rainbows to Dreams appear in previous lessons, except PICK UP.
In this video clip, notice that responding to the instruction to PICK UP results
in the follower stepping in front of the leader and facing reverse line of dance
while the leader continues to face line of dance. [Had the leader been facing
RLOD, the PICKUP would have resulted in follower facing LOD]
How to PICK UP will be explained in the next lesson.

Q-Tip: SUBSTITUTING CUES
Depending on the writer of the cue sheet, sometimes steps may be different from one sheet to another. Sometimes the original choreographer revises the dance and publishes a revised sheet. Some old classics may have been changed to comply with new uniform cue standards. Sometimes a live cuer will make a mistake, or maybe substitute a difficult figure with an easy figure. For example, instead of TWINKLE (a Phase II cue), the cuer might say THRU, FACE, CLOSE (for Phase I dancers). General Rule: dance whatever step is cued.
