Welcome to Rumba
HISTORY: Originated among African slaves in Cuba.
Spanish rumbear = "to party."
Very much like a Cha Cha, but with a single step rather than the cha-cha-cha steps.
BEAT: Slow Latin rhythm. 4 beats to the measure.
Quick, quick, slow (as in International ballroom, but unlike American ballroom [sqq]).
STEP: Start on the outside foot. Each step changes weight.
Ball-Flat. Deliberate steps. Level with no rise and fall.
Rhythm: quick, quick, slow
