~ The Way You Make Me Feel ~
Our introduction to One Step will be danced to the song The Way You Make Me Feel, made popular by Michael Jackson.
What to do for most of the cued steps will be obvious from the wording of the cue.
Each step takes weight on alternating feet; but TOUCH is an Action not a step.
Just bring the free foot next to the weighted foot without taking weight, then use that free foot for the next step.
The number following a cue indicates how many change of weighted steps are to be made. "VINE 4" means to perform the Vine in 4 steps.
Teach Demo: VINE 4
The dance to The Way You Make Me Feel includes a VINE 8. For the VINE 8, start with a side step, then a cross in front step, then a side step, then a cross in back step, etc. for eight weight changes.
Observe the video clip of the full dance, then try to dance along with the clip. Start in SEMI-CLOSED POSITION with the outside foot free.
The Way You Make Me Feel One Step
The ONE STEP is fairly easy, but is the foundation for steps used in other rhythms.
When the general information [Section OS101], the positions [Section OS 104] and a familiarity of the moves in The Way You Make Me Feel [Section OS130] have been learned, new dancers are ready to move on to more complicated rhythms.
