BACK STORY
The Spanish-language song was written in 1932. Lawrence Welk introduced it into the United States in 1941, and Jimmy Dorsey's record (with vocals by Bob Eberly) was on the Billboard Chart for 17 weeks, and was Number 1 best-seller for 2 weeks. The flip-side, Green Eyes, also reached Number 1; so this was a rare double-sided/double No.1 recording.
The Javier Solis version was very popular in Mexico.
