HISTORY: Popularized by dancer Harry Fox at the rooftop supper club of the Wintergarden Theater. Originally "Harry Fox's Trot", then "Fox's Trot", and now simply "Foxtrot".

FT 101 Intro to Foxtrot ------------------
- Round Dancing GENERAL RULE:
Leader (man) on the inside of the circle, follower (lady) on the outside.
Both start on outer foot (the free foot when in Open Position).
Cues are to Leader. Follower performs opposite footwork.
Shift weight with each step unless the cue is for an "action" step rather than a placement step.
FT 102 Basics; Timing -----------------
Prerequisite for Phase III Foxtrot: Phase III Waltz.
Foxtrot uses many of the steps from waltz, but performs them in a different rhythm.
Timing: Slow, quick, quick.
