BEAT: 3 beats to the measure with first beat heavily accented.
FOOTWORK: Rise and fall. Count: 1-2-3 (down, up, up). Usually closing on the final step.
HISTORY: Centuries old, with popularity growing in Vienna in the early 1800's.

Most WALTZ dances start with the Standard Introduction.
Wait 2 measures of music;
Apart, Point, Together, Touch.
That is, with Lead Foot free, Step Apart,
Point with other foot NO WEIGHT,
Step Together with that same foot (TAKE WEIGHT),
Touch the free other foot to that weighted foot.

has a Standard Introduction.
