QS 301 Intro to Ph.3 Quickstep

Round Dancing GENERAL RULE:

Leader (man) on the inside of the circle, follower (lady) on the outside.

Both start on outer foot (the free foot when in Open Position).

Cues are to Leader. Follower performs opposite footwork.

Shift weight with each step unless the cue is for an "action" step rather than a placement step.

Quickstep Footwork

Light and airy-- Skim the floor on the balls of the feet.

QS 302 Timing

Forward and back steps are usually slow.

Closing or locking steps are usually quick.

QS 303 Video Teach Demos

The signature figure for Quickstep is the QUARTER TURN AND PROGRESSIVE CHASSE.

Phase 3 choreography often borrows the figure.
