Level 1 Waltz. VERY EASY. Workshop Number: WZ134
Waltz exercise No. 4
DEMONSTRATION
LEARNING THE DANCE
This is a Phase 1 Waltz, not the popular Phase 2 version of "First Time Waltz" with different music.
This dance includes TWINKLES.
A TWINKE is CROSS, SIDE, CLOSE.
So a THRU TWINKLE would be crossing through the couple while opening out toward the direction of dance, followed by the SIDE, CLOSE to end up facing partner.
This dance includes the figure BACK, DRAW, TOUCH. SIDE, DRAW, TOUCH is more common, but BACK, DRAW, TOUCH uses the same concept.
Although BACK is a weighted step, remember that both DRAW and TOUCH are Actions that do not take weight. That means there are two moves in a row using the same foot that do not take weight; so there is only one weight change in the 3-beat measure. Step BACK on the first beat, then for the DRAW-beat slide the free foot to the weighted foot ending in the TOUCH-beat. It is still a count of 1-2-3.
REVIEW
This dance includes a TWIRL/VINE 3, as introduced in the previous lesson.
While progressing down line:
Man performs VINE in 3 steps (SIDE, CROSS BEHIND, SIDE)
Lady turns under in 3 steps.
