Prerequisite: Mission Bell Waltz Lesson 2
~ First Kiss ~
Easy Phase 2 WZ
CAUTION: This is not the version that would be performed at most party dances or
at classes past the easy level.
Cue List (steps learned in Lessons 1 and 2):
THRU, SD, CLS
WZ AWY & TOG
TWK
L TRNG BX
BAL L & R
New Cues:
ROLL
ROLL ACROSS
R TRNG WZ
DIP
MANEUVER
STEP 1: Observe the dance.
Teach Demo. [Alice and Clark; filmed by Shirley]
Note: Unlike in this example, the choreography intends for both the leader and the follower to perform the solo rolls.
STEP 2: Investigating the Cues.
ROLLS
ROLL = SD [trng 1/2 awy from partner], SD [trng 1/2 toward partner], SD.
ROLL ACROSS: like ROLL, but go to other side of partner and maintain facing position.
DIP to CENTER OF HALL [COH]
Because cues are directed to the Man and the instruction is "Dip to Center of the Hall," therefore,
DIP = Man: Back step leaving trailing foot where it was.
Woman: (Fwd step leaving trailing foot where it was.)
MANUEVER [general concept] places the leader in front of the follower.
MANUEVER, SIDE, CLOSE
= M: R FWD in front of W TRNG 1/2 R face, SD, CLS
W: (small step FWD, SD, CLS)
[NOTE: because this is a waltz requiring 3 steps,
the SIDE, CLOSE is understood and need not be cued.]
