Toph Toughington Midnight was born into the Midnight Clan. They were a Clan that long practiced the art of Voodoo. Toph is a twin, his sisters name is Clarice Midnight. They are the youngest of the 15 children of the The Midnight Clan by Jonah and Claire Rionee Midnight. Their Grandfather was Papa Midnight, perhaps the greatest Voodoo Practitioner there ever was. Their Grandmother was Christina Whatley, and anybody who is anybody knows the power that Christina possesed.

Toph is the eldest between the twins. He has always had a sense of duty to watch over and protect his sister. She is to become the next head of the Midnight Clan. Toph has always been a man bigger than most, he needed to be, to protect his sister. Since early on in their childhood, the twins could sense the magic that ran through their veins. Toph always had a pension for playing with the earth. From making mud pies when he was a toddler to being able to slightly manipulate the earth as he saw fit when he got older.

Toph fought many fights both magical and physical protecting his sisters well being and her virtue. One such fight left an (to this day) unrecoverable scar. Toph will DIE. He has something left in him from a Skinwalker Shaman. It affects his heart and their is nothing that can be done. Fearing that when he is gone, his sister won't be able to take her place as head of the Midnight Clan, Toph did the one thing all desperate of desperate men do, he made a deal with the devil.

Summoning the devil at the Crossroads at midnight, he made his deal to live long enough, be bigger, be stronger, be faster, and have even greater magical abilities so he could continue to protect his sister. Like all deals with the devil, all this comes at a cost. First, Toph's eyesight, in the place of being able to see, Toph can "see" the elements (earth, wind, fire, water). Second, his soul becomes the devils when he dies, and he will die.

So this is where I leave you, the story of Toph, yet to be written, except for the ending, that deal is already made.....

When Papa Jonah saw the changes in the twins, he and Mama Claire talked. The next day, its was announced to the twins that they would be heading to New Orleans and staying at the Midnight property in the city for an extended period of time. When they arrive at the converted old house, they are greeted by Jonah and Azaziel. They stop the twins at the steps, exchange hugs and greetings, and head inside. A serious looking Jonah explains to the twins that they have effectively been banished from baton Rouge and the Midnight family until they prove their worth. Within the family, is a piece of unfinished business that must be seen through to the end. With a heavy heart, he charges both of them to find out what had happened to Christina Whateley, and to follow these events to their final moment. He smiles slightly at the two. Clarise has the aptitude to be Joseph's true heir, and possibly head the family in the future. But not as they are now. They must willingly complete this trial to ever have a chance of returning home.
