Last time, during The Druids of the Wood, our party heads deeper into the Neverwinter Wood, looking for the crypt where corruption is spreading out into the forest. The group watches the green leafy forest turn dead the further they travel. The forest becomes covered in slimey, fungus dripping from branches.
As the party puts eyes on a building, they hear a cry coming from the brush. A pack of necrotic raccoons appears and begins to attack the party. Hidden in the foliage is a desiccated druid guiding the pack. The group makes a run for the door of the crypt for cover only to find that the door was a mimic. It eats Bubba, and goes after Abel. Abel throws a bead of force into the maw of the creature, activates it, and causes the creature to explode. Glug cuts out the super sticky tongue of the mimic to use later. They defeat the raccoons, the druid, and head down into th crypt.
The tendrils of fungus covering the forest all lead here. Situated on the ceiling of the central chamber is a giant mushroom. As the party approaches, the 'Shroom shrieks, and combat ensues. The party kills the mushroom of doom, and the tendrils extending out to the forest begin to wither and decompose. Victory!
The party heads back to meet up with Nighthawk at the temporary camp with the good news. He greets the group as heroes, listening to their tale with fascination.. after many slaps on the back and handshakes, he takes the party into the woods where he shows them a stand of red ironwood trees. the party cuts2 branches down, 6 foot long, and a diameter of 5 inches..
Nighthawk wants to thank the party further, and invites them to his small village near the druid grove, called??? The party arrives there in the evening, in time to enjoy a feast, get patched up, and get a much needed good night sleep. The next day, Pickle is able to purchase a magic item - a Bag of Preservation, which keeps food and herbs fresh indefinitly while inside of the bag.
The party heads back to Neverwinter, with an escort of druids and animals and heads to the Temple of Gond to give the priest the red ironwood.
Our next adventure is Reanimate the Man of Metal. The party wakes up the warforged, is rewarded and goes shopping.
