The Crazy Old Man and a Giant Robot

Previously, we were captured in Anubis...

And now...

Our group finds themselves in opaque boxes, each in their own box. They are knocked out just before they are taken to be experimented on. Lately, it seems, there is quite a bit of probing. Some scientist seems to have quite a hard on for anal torture. It is unpleasant. While most of the individuals in the cells are free range. they are also collared. this seems to be some sort of inhibitor. It is strong enough to stop every individual from using any sort of extraordinary ability. In the few seconds before being knocked unconscious in the cells, the walls turn from opaque to clear, and this aloows a quick view at the staff, as well as a few of the other unfortunate prisoners.

Out of all of the cells, some seem more secure than others. they seem to where some of the stranger things are kept. In fact, these boxes keep their respective folk in a cryo sleep.

An observant prisoner notices that few of the same people interact more than once with the same prisoner. And, whether that is to prevent attachments, or to keep folk in the dark about what is really going on, or perhaps something worse, it is odd. One frozen popsicle of a man, named Wade Garret Winchester, notices the lack of familiar faces for quite some time. Until one day he sees an Old Man cleaning on multiple days, then the same guy is on his escort to the labs. More than once! The old guy even makes sympathetic eye contact with Wade.

It seems it takes a number of times for the Old Guy to work up the courage to get close to Wade. But when he does, he slips the strapped man a small shiv.

And, at the first opportunity, Wade takes out his guards. With the old man just outside, they shut down the security on the cells, and make their way to the vault to recover some gear.

As the cells shut down, the prisoners are released. And a giant, heavily armed robot emerges from a lower level. some of the prisoners run, and others, like Brock Winchester, join the fight to take on the behemoth, after ditching their collars.

One plucky man named (Jared) even convinces most of the frightened prisoners to stand and fight.

And two of the prisoners make it to the stairway. one young man, named King Radical Awesomaster the Maximum makes a run down the stairs, seeking his lost goodies, while another prisoner, named (Jose), runs up the stairs, and finds a door leading topside. He manages to cause a bit of havoc with fleeing folk before heading back down.

As the robot smashes through many of the prisoners, Edwin manages to land a nasty blow that disable the beast. As the 'bot begins to disintegrate from the acid etching into the armor, it loses control of range weapons, it begins to brawl with the crowd. and after moments pass, the acid breaches the containment around the core of the beast. this breach starts small, but begins to grow. The prisoners, including a woman named (Robbie), run to the stairs, sensing their own demise is imminent. A few, seeing Wade emerge from below with the old man and some gear, decide to risk the explosion, and get their stuff.

And, by the skin of their teeth, they fly through the door, up top, diving for cover as an explosion rocks the bunker.

As the folk look around, they can see smoke wisping through cracks in the rock of the hidden base. Looking at the ruined door leading downward, they realize that it was crafted to appear a natural part of the rock itself. So is the bay door where the vehicles were stored. Someone went to a lot of trouble to keep this place hidden from view. And, even stranger was the amount of folk below. Many of the staff couldn't have made it out judging from a memory of all the different folk that serviced the prison in some way, over the endless time spent in prison.

Before the group disperses, the wild eyed old man shouts for the group to gather, and strangely enough, they do.
