Still Nights

Monday, February 4th, 1935

So, the big battle is over, and John Specter, Toph and Clarise Midnight have come upon a money making idea that can't wait. They wave to Marcus and Van Pelt, and take the truck that the baddies used for troop transport off toward Baton Rouge. The three have moonshine fever. And a plan to make some money. They make a quick stop over at a diner, where John finds [""]. They continue on, and meet with The Midnight's financial whiz, Johnathan Midnight. Johnathan hears out the proposal for the moonshinin' enterprise, and is definitely interested in funding the project for a small piece of the pie. The details of sales, distribution, production are hashed out, but a location is still in the wind. After making some inqueries, Johnathan discovers some unused property south of New Orleans, and near the town of Boutte. He is of the opinion that with out the right place to make a fairly large quantity, that the venture would be worthless. Most of the area is owned by a mamba named Mama Gumbo, so it might be wise to speak with her. And, the area is currently in a turf war. The voodoo practitioners against the Black Hand. It would be wise to see if starting a still here is even worth doing. Who owns the local law? Who needs to be paid off? How much? and how often?

So, after Toph finds true love with a dog named Addan, The 3 humans, and 1 furry venture to the south to check on this property.

Thursday, February 7th, 1935

Boutte turns out to be a one-horse town. There are bars across the street from each other, one belonging to Mama Gumbo and the Red Sect, one belonging to the Black hand. The boys take their chances with Mama Gumbo's folk first. Here, the midnight name has a little weight, and they are driven to an old plantation house, that is slowly being consumed by the surrounding swamp. Specter is forced outside by some Hoodoo, and the other two go in now problem. Mam turns out to be old. Older that Jonas for sure. She talks with the boys for a while, and they finally lay in their plan to bootleg. After Peering into each of them, she determines that this isn't a trick by the Midnight Family to take over her turf. She agrees to sell them the land, but in exchange, they must help her hurt her rival, the Black Hand, by destroying their largest still in the area.

Friday, February 8th, 1935

The boys scout it, out, and after throwing around some ideas, come up with a crazy plan to blow up the bar where the black hand hangs out, and the brewery at the same time. They choose to wait until Sunday to enact their plan, since the still workers will be gone, and there will be minimum security.

Saturday, February 9th, 1935

They take out the outside guards tie the dynamite to some stone dogs, light the bundles, and let them run inside while they shout "Bigelow sends his regards". Most of the Black hand in the bar dies horribly. While the Midnight twins blow the bar, Specter ghosts into the still, and blows the still. They skin some bodies to make it look like Bigelow's work, and go to a shack in the swamp to hide out for a spell.

Sunday, February 10th, 1935

Representatives from The Black Hand travel down from New Orleans to see the damage, and to make a pact with Mama Gumbo against the threat of Bigelow. After the meeting, The twins go to see Mama, and ask a favor. As they are without direction to find Christine Midnight, they want some guidance from the spirit world. She agrees. The circle is drawn, the candles are lit. An alter is lit, the blood offering is made in shadow. From a bowl on the alter, smoke bellows forth. It takes the shape of a face. And asks what the suplicants seek. The twins both ask to find Christine. It asks for payment, and they both agree.

It says

You must first traverse Death's door

You must find the Lord of War

You must find a way to release the Shackles upon yourselves.

For the Shackles upon you are of a greater darkness

Seek the place where stone touches water and sky

Upon completing this line it rushes into the twins open mouths, and disappears.

Since the land is now owned, a still can be built. Or maybe something bigger!! The group sends word to Johnathan, who in turn sends a crew of workers headed by their brother Collin and their sister Velma. The Construction is underway!!!
