We are going to be using a limited selection of books for character creation, this will include:
The Players Handbook
The Dungeon Master's Guide
The Monster Manual
Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything
Volo's Guide to Monsters
Xanathar's Guide to Everything
Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes
These books should be available on D&D Beyond. Here is the link to the Campaign Site on Beyond.
We will be using the Svilland Campaign Setting Book, a digital copy can be downloaded here.
Races: The Svilland book has 6 new races, that you should decide from. If you are looking for something else, it will have to be ok'd by me.
Classes: For this campaign, Monks, Warlocks, Blood Hunters, and Artificers will not be character class options. Also, there are some new sub class options for Barbarians, Bards, Clerics (called Gothis), Fighters, Paladins (called Alles), Rangers and Sorcerers. The book introduces two new classes, the Runewalker, which replaces the Wizard, and the Seidr, which replaces the Druid (PC's also cannot play straight wizards and Druids). Click on the names of the new classes to see what they are about.
*Rangers will have the option to use the UA Revised Ranger. Use the link to connect to its page.
For anything not in line with the campaign, get it ok'd by me. And be prepared to have a spectacular backstory ready!
Obviously, this new material is not standard on D&D Beyond, and I don't have all of the new material loaded in yet, but am working on it. And, I am not able to add the two new classes to D&D Beyond. That's on them...
Background: You can set yourselves up from any background and location in the Svilland book, as well as the books listed above. Assume that you are currently on a slave ship as slaves to a crew of Vestri mauraders. Plan to have a backstory, and work in the reason you are there.
Religion: Take a look at the diety section of the Svilland book. Religion plays a huge part in this world. Something like 99% of the population worship the gods in the book. Figure out if you worship the pantheon equally, or if you favor one diety over another. It will matter! I am open to incorporating norse dieties not mentioned in the book. If you are wanting to go with a non-norse diety or try something akin to atheism, have a damn good, bullet proof reason for not conforming to the gods of Svilland! And, understand that you are more than likely starting you character with a handicap.
I would prefer it if the party agrees ahead of time on good vs evil. Or at least come up with a balance everyone can live with. Try to avoid having the super evil mage and the super good paladin scenario happen.
I think this is a decent start. Take a look at the new book, and send me any questions yall may have.
