Back to Beyond Simple Stories
My ancestors came to America from Europe and help settle the land now known as the United States. In doing so they forcibly took land from the American Natives who occupied it. Now, I would like to take a moment and apologize to American Natives for the atrocities of my predecessors.
So, to the Apache Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Pueblo Indians.
To the Comanche Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Apaches.
To the Iroquois tribes and the Delaware tribes, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Cherokee.
To the Chickasaw Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Choctaws.
To the Choctaw Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Natchez.
To the Seminole Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Apalachee.
To the Iroquois Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Conestoga and the Huron.
To the Navajo Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Hopi.
To the Ojibwa Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Sioux and the Cheyenne.
To the Sioux Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Pawnee.
To the Blackfoot Nation, I apologize to you for my ancestors taking the land that you took from the Cree, the Crow, the Shoshone, and the Sioux.
Yes, indeed, to all American Natives, I apologize to you and to anyone else for my ancestors taking the land that you took from someone else.
