Back to More Simple Stories
Jerry F. Crews is the pseudonym used by author Jerry W. Crews. This intensely private person uses the pseudonym to maintain his anonymity. While every avid reader reveled in his previous work, Simple Stories, Crews was busy producing this collection of More Simple Stories. The passion for this work is quite evident, or as Crews so elegantly explains, “This is a love offering. I only hope and pray that thousands, yes, even millions, will show their love and buy this book.”
With this collection of stories added to the previous collection, Crews has become a force to be reckoned with in the world of fiction. It appears his depth of imagination has no bounds. When asked about the source of his inspiration, he revealed, “I don’t write fiction. Every year with the spring and autumn equinox, little aliens gather around my bed and tell me their stories. I take notes. Of course, I provide the beer and pretzels.”
His recently unfortunate incarceration for smuggling hot chili peppers into New Mexico has not deterred his spirit and determination. He used the time to organize and outline many of the stories that are in this publication. Crews explains, “I told the warden I wanted solidarity with my fellow inmates. He thought I said, ‘solitary.’ I feel strangely refreshed after fourteen months of solitary confinement.”
Crews draws his literary and personal strength from his adoring family. His wife, Diane, is his biggest supporter. She says of her husband, “He has always been the man of my dreams. He’s so sexy! I would be totally lost without him.” His son, Jeremy, says, “He’s always been my idol. I can only hope one day to be half the man he is.” Another son, Justin, remarks, “He’s great. I’ve always believed he could walk on water if he wanted to.” His third son, Jared, declares, “To be in his presence is to be in the presence of profound greatness!” His youngest son, Jon, suggests, “I worship the droplets of sweat that fall from his brow!” Crews’ daughter, Jennifer, offers, “What can I say? The man is an icon to all that know him! I’m willing to spend my whole life searching for a husband who is exactly like my father.” Such emotional outpourings leads Crews to exclaim, “Who are these people?!?”
Even though he is now a giant among giants in the literary field, Crews remains dedicated to telling the stories of the “little people.” He recently remarked about the downhearted and the downtrodden, “If they stay out of my way, no one will get hurt.” May he continue to find inspiration from such sources, and delight us all with Even More Simple Stories.
