Idiots Guide to Beer Tits 40th Weekend in Macau… yes, that’s you Hashers…

Itinerary

Sat. 20th May

·         10:00am - Main Group travel from HK

o   BJ Magic Bus @ 10am (Hong Lok Yuen) à HZMB HK Border point

o   HZMB Shuttle Bus à Macau Border

o   BJ Magic Bus II à Grand Coloane Resort (Hotel)

o   https://goo.gl/maps/X8pMAPRZouoUznM48

o   Check-in (if possible)

·         Others are getting there by other means (cross border bus from Prince Edward & normal ferries)

·         2:00pm – meet @ Fernandos Restaurant on Hak Sha Beach

o   https://goo.gl/maps/yu2hNoftwgqVmYR18

o   You cannot book ahead. So we will have to wait for a table, so the usual beer & malarkey in the garden.

o   Unknown quality of Portuguese food there but I’m sure enough port to keep us merry.

o   Champers, cake n’ jelly and a quiet word from the Birthday girls (BT’s 40th, Hoover & Electrolux) I’m sure to wrap up the meal.

o   Back to the Hotel pool to unwind with a few more beers and cocktails.

o   Survivors to head out for a night on the tiles… maybe.

Sun 21st May

·         11:00am – Check-out and meet ay the Hotel lobby.

·         12:00pm – SKH3 run, hared by Moonie & Muck Diver. Coloane offers classic running trails.

o   Finish point will have beers and an option to eat before the journey back.

·         4:00-5:00pm – We shall up stick and start the journey back to HK.

·         6:00-7:00pm - book you transport of choice back in this time slot but you could always travel back via the bridge shuttle bus that does not need booking. It may require a little waiting time though being a Sunday evening?

Note, for people thinking of heading over for just the Sunday and the run only, I would suggest that whatever travel means you chose the cost will be around the same BUT the travel time will vary between 3-4 hours, so you would need to set off at around 8:00am to make the midday run start time – you have been warned.

Getting to and back from Macau Options

1.       HK Border - Public Bus across bridge – Taxi/Bus to resort

2.       Cross Border Coach – Prince Edward to Cotai Hotel – Taxi/Bus to resort

3.       High Speed Ferry – HK Side to Taipa/Macau – Taxi/Bus to resort

Some notes for the above

1.   Here’s how to get the bus from Hong Kong to Macao (macaonews.org)

·         Some notes from GB below, for the public Shuttle Bus across the bridge:-

·         To HK-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) building: Example: bus A36 from Yoho (starts Kam Sheung Rd station), 50 mins  How to get to Hzmb Zhuhai Bus Stop in Hong Kong by Bus or Subway? (moovitapp.com)

·         HZMB building to shuttle bus, 20 mins. Toilets, 7-11, duty free, immigration, customs, ticket machines. $66/ticket, $33 for 65+ folk

·         Shuttle bus, 40 mins. Bus full, no leg room (tighter than average HK bus)

·         Macau immigration, 20 mins

·         Taxi to Grand Coloane Resort in Coloane aound 30 mins

·         So assume 2 hours and 40 minutes for the journey there.

·         Return FYI and using a ferry option: MTR from old town to Taipa ferry terminal, 25 mins

·         Didn’t pre-book, arrived 1545, earliest economy ticket 1930, earliest super class 1745 ($360). You have been warned!

·         You can buy a 3-day SIM card for Macau from the 7-11 or Circle K at HZMB building

·         You can buy a “Macau Pass” at 7-11 / Circle K in Macau, $130 includes $30 deposit, works like an Octopus for public transport, shops, bars, restaurants etc

·         Useful app for buses is “Bus Transport System” (DSAT).

Note, hotel bus stop is on the 15 & 21A routes and the buses can be caught outside the Venetion and Parisian hotels going there.

Probably the transport of choice, to leave en-masse after the hash too.
