Julia will meet them at the hotel at 9:30 and will walk together to the nearest possible bus stop (350 yards away, 4 minutes walk) in Via del Traforo, 143, 00187 Roma. Walking instruction From Hotel Accademia (see google map) or see picture
9:50 am: The group staying at the Sonya Hotel will be picked up right at the hotel.

DAY 2 (Oct 25): Civita di Bagnoreggio and OrvietoMeal plan: breakfast, lunch
8:30 am departure for Orvieto (1h 45 min drive)In Orvideto (see map) we will spend the morning strolling this beautiful town (important sites videos).
11 or 11:30 am - 10 to 20 people will have a visit of Underground tour (0763 340688, 1 hour) privately for our group. We would need 10 people participating in order to be able to get the entrance tickets for €6 per person. If we have 20 people or more the cost of the tour would be €5 per person. If we have less than 10 people the tour would cost €60 total (1 to 9 people).

Depart for Civita di Bagnoreggio at aboout 2:00 pm (40-50 min time)
Visit the small town for about 1.5 hours. IMPORTANT NOTE: reaching this town requires a long walk over an inclined bridge that will be difficult for people with walking disabilities). Look at the picture near the town description below.Drive back to to Villa (1h 30 min drive) free night
DAY 3 (Oct 26): Tuscania and Saturnia Thermal Waterfalls
Meal plan: breakfast, lunch, total travel time 1.5 hours each way
8.30 am: departure for Tuscania (30 min drive);
visit Tuscania for about 2h:
Reach the parking lot near via Roma, we will walk along Via Roma and arrive to the Belvedere for a fantastic overview of the area.
then we will reach S. Pietro, local contact Paola Bartoccioni (tel. 347.8838069) - official page
Time permitting we will visit S. Maria Maggiore, contact Mariano Alfieri (tel. 328.2350218) - official page
Drive to Saturnia (1.5h windy road) and Stop for lunch at a local trattoria Il Cantuccio di Anastasia +39 347 7941074 or 0564 601242 (Rosetta)
will continue to the nearby Saturnia waterfall and spend about 2 hours:
option A: visit the thermal baths SEE VIDEO
option B: visit of the small village whwre we had lunch
Return to Villa - free night
Collect luggage for 2 couples (Jackie and Tony Albasin, and Marsha & Dennis Duncan) and transfer them to Hotel San Giorgio in Civitavecchia
DAY 4 (Oct 27): Breakfast and Transfer to port

If you fell in love with the movie "Under the Tuscan Sun", you will find all the same charming ingredients in this true Italian hilltop town, located just south of Tuscany. Teeming with great food, shops & streets to explore, the town has a beautiful medieval flair that will feel like going back in time.
With the rise of the Roman dominion in central Italy, most of the Etruscan settlements disappeared but Tuscania resisted as one of the most important cities thanks to its advanced architectonic development (bath, aqueducts, etc.). Over the centuries, some of the most beautiful Italian churches were built in Tuscania.
Civita di Bagnoregio
Civita di Bagnoregio
(see Wikipedia article): the drama of "the dying town" Civita di Bagnoregio. This charming little town was also founded by the Etruscans around 2500 years ago on top of a hill formed by "tufah" stone. The natural erosion and earthquakes have changed the town a lot less space on top of the hill than it originally had. In 1794 one of those earthquakes destroyed the sort of natural bridge that linked Civita to the bigger nearby town of Bagnoregio. The natural erosion hasn't stopped and the sides of the hill keep crumbling down and therefore they call Civita "the dying city", like an island in our memory or a figment of our imagination, is connected by a narrow walkway to reality and to the surrounding countryside; it takes us far away, not so much in distance as in time.... There is a feeling that one is leaving the real world, and this filling become stronger after entering the ancient city gate, standing guard over a sheer drop between the remains of two houses with their windows opened wide over the emptiness.

Viterbo is a dazzling ancient city situated between two magnificent lakes, Bolsena, and Vico. Enclosed by walls made of lava stone, Viterbo has spectacularly preserved medieval architecture (one of the best in Italy) and an abundance of antique shops. The main attraction in Viterbo is the Papal Palace (Palazzo Dei Papi), that served as a country residence and a refuge in time of trouble in Rome. The Viterbo historic center of San Pelligrino is one of the best preserved medieval squares in all of Italy. Here you may see the intact authentic stone walls that were vital in protecting the residents from Papal attacks. As we walk through Viterbo's Piazza Della Morte and Piazza del Plebiscito, history can be seen through its magnificent architecture. Viterbo will surprise you with its wealth of rich history.

A short drive from Viterbo is the enchanted garden laid out by Vicino Orsini in the 16th century at Bomarzo: larger-than-life statues, sculpted in the bedrock, grotesque masks, a twisted little house, all unconnected to any rational plan and apparently strewn almost randomly about the area, sol per sfogare il Core ("just to set the heart free") as one inscription on an obelisk says.

(See Wikipedia Article): A private excursion to Orvieto will provide a full-immersion of Medieval Italy, where you will discover the drama of "the dying town" Civita di Bagnoregio, and the art and architecture in the Hills of Lazio and Umbria in Orvieto.
Built on a massive limestone outcropping, Orvieto boasts over four thousand years of history and a magnificent setting. Once a citadel of the Etruscans, the city is a medieval gem. Orvieto is most famous for its spectacular Cathedral of Romanesque-Gothic architecture, which lies in the heart of the city. Built in the 13th century A. D., the cathedral is decorated with mosaics and sculptures, as well as black and white horizontal striped marble. Many art historians call this the most colorful monument in the world. Spend time exploring the interior chapels, with frescoes by Fra Angelico and Signorelli's masterpiece, Last Judgment.
You can also admire its Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, the Fortezza dell'Albornoz (originally known as the Rocca di San Martino), the famous 203 foot deep St. Patrick’s well with its double spiraled staircases descending to the water below past an Etruscan tomb and various vistas from openings in the shaft.
As the town offers so many different options, one can wander through the city's picturesque lanes and alleys, shop for
Orvieto's famed ceramics and Pinocchio dolls, or perhaps just sit at an outdoor cafe and enjoy the splendid medieval atmosphere and the local Orvieto Classico wine. Orvieto is also well known for its crisp, white wines of the same name, produced from grapes grown at the foot of the cliffs on the eroded volcanic rock.
