Tour Description
Meet your guide and 30 to 35 seater minibus at the ship and drive to the elegant town of Aix-en-Provence. Visiting this city is a chance to travel in time : its architectural and cultural heritage is accessible to everyone, treasures that you will discover simply by walking with your guide through the town like the Saint-Sauveur Cathedral or the Clock Tower from the town hall.
Act like the locals and have a coffee cup at a terrace of the numerous cafes on the famous Cours Mirabeau lined with 17th and 18th century private mansions.
City of art and water, the old town is packed with shops, bustling squares and refreshing fountains.
You will be probably attracted by the shop-window of one of the bakeries displaying mouth-watering calissons, marzipan-like confectionery made from sweet almonds and preserved fruits created in Aix in the 15th century. Aix is also the birthplace of the painter Paul Cézanne. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Cézanne's studio that was built from his own plans and where time seems to stand still (entrance ticket not included).
Continuation toward Cassis, a very tiny and ancient fishing port. The harbour lined with cafes and restaurants is probably the most beautiful part of the village. You will have the possibility to do a 45-minute boat trip to discover 3 Calanques, steep-walled coves with tiny harbours or beaches at the end. Appreciate the outstanding view on the bay from Cape Canaille. Free time for lunch (not included) on your own during the day. The ticket for the Calanque cruise is not included.
