Researchers at the University of Aberdeen have been investigating the fungi living in our native pinewoods to see how they might be affected by climate change. To begin with, researchers conducted a survey to identify which fungi live in the pinewoods, and whether pinewoods with different climates (such as in the east and west of Scotland) have different fungi. They found that how much rain a pinewood gets determines which fungi live there, suggesting that changes in rainfall due to climate change will affect the fungal community. See the full story here.
