Forays with Edinburgh and Lothians Fungus Enthusiasts

Although we are based in Edinburgh and the Lothians, we are not restricted by geographical area and select our foray sites based on factors such as travel time and accessibility by public transport, and doing joint forays with other groups.

Our regular forays are open to members. If you are not a member, we run public forays that are open to everyone, so you can come along and give one a try! Details of our next public foray can be found below.

Our forays attract members with different levels of knowledge and experience, and our knowledgeable members are happy to help with identifications and share knowledge.

We try to plan forays in 6-month periods, although we may arrange and advertise ‘pop-up’ forays; short notice forays that may be any day of the week.

We try to have regular accessible forays, designed for members who normally find forays difficult due to mobility issues.

We are forayers, not foragers, but those interested in fungi for the pot are welcome and we will encourage an interest into the wider world of fungi.

The Coordinating Team send out foray details by email to members at least a couple of weeks in advance, although we try to give more notice. We provide details on:

• where to go

• what to bring

• who is guiding the foray
