For anyone who enjoyed looking for the Olive Oysterling (keep looking - it's still fruiting!), here's another Oysterling to look out for in January - the Elastic Oysterling. The common name refers to the elastic membrane that can be peeled away from the rest of the fruitbody. In contrast to last month's fungus, this species is found on coniferous wood. Happy hunting!
Remember to submit your records so that we can gain a better understanding of its Scottish distribution.
