Description:
Based on the formally-recognized knowledge and skills faculty members possess in a chosen field. A teacher’s professional expertise assures that content is current and taught in adequate depth.

B. Instructional Design - technical skills in designing, sequencing, and presenting experiences which induce learning
Description:
Faculty members demonstrate instructional design skills through the following:
Organizing course elements and exhibiting evidence of careful planning
Matching instruction and course materials to students’ learning needs, interests and abilities.
Matching varying teaching methods with instructional objectives and learning outcomes – techniques (e.g., lectures, demonstrations, exercises and discussions).
Developing new courses, labs, and innovative course materials.
Assessing learning, including the quality of examinations, setting fair but high performance standards and providing timely, informative and frequent feedback to students.
Providing syllabi which include clear course objectives and requirements
Involving students in active and cooperative learning.

C. Instructional Delivery - includes human interactive skills that promote or facilitate learning.
Description:
Faculty members demonstrate delivery skills through the following:
Communication skills
Communication of high but realistic expectations
Treatment of students with respect and courtesy
Ability to present material in an interesting manner
Ability to clarify difficult subject matter
Effective use of class time
Demonstrated efforts to stimulate student interest and achievement
Documentation is based solely on the results of SIR II or eSIR II, sections B and C.

D. Instructional Management - organizational and operational tasks involved in maintaining and operating a course
Faculty members demonstrate instructional management skills through the following:
Keeping grade records, submitting final grades on time, keeping attendance rosters and following the financial aid attendance verification process.
Adhering to established college and department policies and procedures
